Why is Code Vein’s multiplayer not working?
The most widely reported Code Vein multiplayer issue has an error message that says, Failed to initiate multiplayer session. That error message appears for some players when they try to summon friends for multiplayer games. We will go through a couple of reasons why the multiplayer feature is not working in Code Vein:
Incompatible Steam region settings – If the Steam region is not set correctly, joining multiplayer sessions in Code Vein will not work. Game bugs – Having many blood code gifts equipped is a bug that has caused Code Vein’s multiplayer to stop working for players. That bug primarily affects the base version of the game. Steam-related issues – Such issues can arise because of conflicting programs, Steam service failures, and security features like firewalls. If Steam crushes when installing games, this guide will help you.
There are numerous potential resolutions for fixing Code Vein multiplayer issues, and we outline them below.
What can I do if Code Vein’s multiplayer is not working?
1. Change the Steam download region
2. Repair the Steam service
The command above includes the default Steam installation path. If you haven’t installed Steam in its default directory, you’ll need to enter the full folder path you’ve installed it at in the command. Also, note that this command requires admin rights. Therefore, make sure you run that command in administrator accounts.
3. Select the No Restrictions matchmaking option
4. Disable Windows Defender Firewall
We recommend turning the firewall back on after playing Coin Vein. If this resolution resolves the game’s multiplayer issue, make sure Steam and Coin Vein are allowed through the firewall. Also, if you’re using a third-party antivirus with a firewall, disable it from its protection settings menu. If you can do so, select to temporarily disable its shields for a few hours before you start Coin Vein. SPONSORED
5. Clean boot Windows
This resolution disables all third-party startup items and services that could be conflicting with the game. If Code Vein multiplayer works after clean-booting Windows, there was most likely a program or service interfering with the game or its Steam client software. You can restore the original boot configuration for Windows by selecting the Load startup items and Disable all options. If you do so, however, you’ll need to identify what program or service is causing the issue.
6. Remove gifts and passives from your unused blood codes
Some players have been able to fix Code Vein’s multiplayer mode not working by removing all the gifts and passives for unequipped blood codes they’re not currently utilizing. That may not be an ideal solution. However, that resolution is confirmed to fix a multiplayer bug for the game’s base version. Contact Bandai Namco’s Code Vein support service for further troubleshooting guidance. You can submit a support ticket from Code Vein’s customer support page. Sign in to your Bandai Namco account there, and then click the Submit a Request button. The potential resolutions above can feasibly fix a variety of multiplayer issues for playing Code Vein online. So, give those resolutions a try whenever Code Vein’s multiplayer doesn’t work as expected.
