Game Showcase event is an annual celebration of upcoming titles coming to the console in 12 months cycle. This year, the tech giant has promised to bring more news on Bethesda’s hotly-anticipated utopian RPG Starfield. Starfield is coming to Windows PCs and Xbox Series X/S on September 6, 2023. A broadcasting event, dubbed Starfield Direct, is taking place after the Game Showcase and will reveal more about all the tidbits of the game: mechanism, storyline, combat system, etc. — Xbox (@Xbox) March 8, 2023

High expectations on Starfield

The game has been facing quite a lot of delays. A short teaser was released back in 2018 two years before Microsoft acquired Bethesda. Then, further, during the E3 2021, the devs promised a release window of November 2022. It was pushed to the first half of 2023 before settling for the current release date. With this release, Starfield is officially Bethesda’s first IP (intellectual property) in over 25 years, so it only makes sense if they want to get everything right although some fans just couldn’t be patient to get their hands on the game. Moreover, we can also expect more to come from Forza Motorsport, Hellblade 2, and Avowed during this event. Like last year’s edition, Game Showcase 2023 will likely be livestreamed through Xbox’s various streaming channels on YouTube, Twitch, etc.  On the other hand, Xbox’s competitor, Sony and its PlayStation console, is apparently upset with Starfield’s exclusivity. In a statement to UK’s CMA authorities, the rival said that Microsoft’s history with its exclusive titles should be the reason why its long-lasting acquisition saga of Activision Blizzard be prohibited or subject to remedy, at least. Bit weird coming from Sony, given it has a lot of exclusive titles to its name, like The Last of Us, Days Gone, and more. Are you excited about this announcement? Let us know in the comments!
